The Rendezvous

With her luxurious faux fur wrapped around her, Gloria glides past the doorman into the palatial hotel lobby.

“Chérieee!” she waves, recognizing the gentleman holding a leather duffle bag.

He reaches out, sweeps her into his strong arms and kisses her. Gloria responds and then releases his hold, seductively leading him to the elevator.

The night clerk smiles. He’d already sent up the requested champagne and strawberries.

In their suite, Gloria changes her footwear and puts on gloves and a tool belt. Nodding to her partner, he secures the rope with which she lowers herself to their target’s balconet.

The Carrot Ranch’s March 6, 2023 Challenge’s theme was inspired by Laura Branigan’s 1980’s song Gloria. I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but March 8th was International Women’s Day and the prompt was to write a 99-word story about a character named Gloria.
