Happy October!

I’m so excited – a brand new month and a whole new list of things to trigger happiness in our lives. I believe it’s up to us to choose to tap into happiness or joy every day, even if it’s only for an instant. One way to start is to come up with a ‘joy’ list for a month and then to do the list on purpose. You’ll find that at times you will do the item on the list just because it’s there, but for me, I always find a reward. As soon as I get caught up in whatever the activity is I feel happy and want to do more of it.

I thought I’d share my October happiness list.

1. Jump into a pile of leaves.
2. Have breakfast in bed.
3. Take out a board game and play it (Monopoly, Sorry, Clue, Apples to Apples…. )
4. Count your blessings. (In Canada, it’s Thanksgiving.)
5. Go for a walk through your favourite park.
6. Visit a Pumpkin Patch.
7. Curl up by the fire or TV with a warm cup of coco.
8. Make baked apples!
9. Dress up in a costume for Halloween, even if it means just wearing a pink wig.
10. Dance.

And here is something I thought I might try: Halloween Boo-Grams where you ring and run, dropping off a surprise at your neighbour’s house. The surprise would be a small gift of candies or other treats and be sure to include a ghost picture and a poem:

This treat is for you, we hope you enjoy.
The idea is simple, one we hope you employ.
You may choose to pass “BOO” along to a friend or neighbor
Along with any kind of sweet Halloween favor.
We hope you join in the fun, let’s really hear it
And spread some “Boo”s and a happy Halloween spirit.

Please feel free to share what you are adding to your October Happiness List.
