Summer’s heat and a tumble –
That’s all it took.
Then a drive to emerge
Where the folks were kind
And I was told I’d be fine.
Oh, the body’d be sore
With bruises and scrapes,
But the X-rays dismissed
Any surgery or brace.
With a tensor on my knee
And instructions for care,
They sent me home
To get over this scare.
Summer’s heat and a tumble –
That’s all it took
To change the course of events
That had already been booked.
With ice packs on my knees
And a cane by my side,
I’m beginning to realize
That healing is going
To take some time.
Oh no! Injuries in the Summer are awful — just when you want to be out & about! 🤕😕❤

Lovely poem, to reflect on life’s unfortunate surprises. I certainly hope this not a current situation for you!
